We saw Santa scuba-diving at Vancouver Aquarium!

To be honest, we were pretty tickled to spend the day rediscovering the aquarium’s exhibits old and new, from the Amazonian wildlife to the magnificent beluga whales. But things just got a little more festive this past weekend as it marked the arrival of Scuba Claus, who returns for his annual visit to celebrate the holidays at the newly expanded Vancouver Aquarium Marine Science Centre! Catch Scuba Claus on his daily dive (until Dec. 24) in the Georgia Strait exhibit – a stunning exhibit full of colourful marine life found on B.C.’s coastlines, including halibut, rockfishes, sturgeon, crabs and sea stars. During the holiday season, head over to:

  • Enjoy the return of nostalgic memories and rediscover the wonder of the electric eel-powered holiday tree and the jelly swarm exhibit.
  • Hop aboard a 4-D theatre film adventure, The Polar Express, and celebrate the 10 year anniversary of this beloved story while you get swept away to the North Pole through an exhilarating sensory experience of wondrous sights, sounds and more.
  • Admire the Marine-Debris Tree art installation, by Pete Clarkson, that was built with debris collected during a shoreline cleanup of the West Coast Trail.
  • Enjoy the Frozen Moments: Images of the Artic photo exhibit that showcases stunning images of the Artic as captured by five renowned photographers including: David McEown, Daisy Gilardini, Mark Robinson, Rob Stimpson, and Nansen Weber.
  • Explore an outdoor maze of trees and enjoy crafts and stories with Scuba Claus’ elves.

Experience the holidays at Vancouver Aquarium until January 4, 2015. The Aquarium is open 365 days a week, including statutory holidays. For more information, and schedules, please visit vanaqua.org.
