Make room, coffee drinkers, there’s a new tea shop on Main Street. Balance Botanicals is one of the newest ones on the block and it is worth a pop-in, whether or not you’re a tea lover. The sun-drenched store is a holistic healing haven, stocking over 300 organic teas and over 60 herbal blends. They also carry a great section of glassware, containers, and kitchen accessories – all the pretty things that make a house a Pinterest-y home.
We spoke with the lovely soft-spoken owner Shino and learned that she started building her tea collection in the reception area of Balance Acupuncture & Massage, a therapy clinic owned by herself and her husband just across the street. As the collection grew, she patiently waited for the right space to become available for a retail storefront. And sure enough, it did. They opened at the end of April this year.
“I love the idea of using plants to heal,” she said. That’s what customers are interested in as well – herbal blends with medicinal benefits are their bestsellers. Tea can help ease health issues including digestion, sleep, anxiety, low energy, and PMS (apparently very popular and effective, ladies).
Pro-tip: Many of the teas make for refreshing iced brews for summer. You can always add a dash of honey to sweeten. Ask Shino or her staff for suggestions!
